Octopus - Magnetic Brooch

This one-of-a-kind brooch is made using coil wires coated with real gold and silver—materials traditionally used in Klosterarbeiten, Austrian devotional artworks.
Each piece is entirely designed and handcrafted by artist Hiyoshi Katayama.

While metallic in nature, the wire gives a surprisingly light and delicate texture, creating a presence that is both bold and refined.
Over time, the colors deepen with wear, developing a vintage-like charm that makes it even more special.

This piece comes framed with traditional Japanese washi paper to match its artistic feel.
When not worn as a brooch, it becomes a charming piece of art to display and enjoy.

The brooch features a strong magnet backing that attaches securely without damaging clothes or bags.
A chain connects the magnet and the brooch, reducing the risk of loss and allowing for easy adjustments.
Attach it to hats, coats, bags, or any accessory to add a playful touch.

Design

“The fun of an octopus lies in the expressiveness of its legs,” says Katayama. She designed the piece so that, when turned upside down, it resembles a mysterious flower.
It invites curiosity—"What kind of flower could this be?"—and brings a sense of playfulness.
