Squid - Magnetic Brooch


This one-of-a-kind brooch is crafted using coil wires coated with real gold and silver—materials traditionally used in Klosterarbeiten, an Austrian devotional craft.
Designed and handmade by artist Hiyoshi Katayama, each piece reflects meticulous attention to detail and artistry.

While made from metal, the brooch has a delicate, airy texture unique to fine wirework.
Over time, the color subtly deepens, allowing you to enjoy a vintage-like patina as it ages beautifully.

The brooch comes with a custom frame lined with washi paper, selected by the artist to match the theme of the piece.
When not worn, it can be displayed as a piece of art, adding character to any space.

The strong magnet backing allows for easy attachment without piercing fabric.
The motif and magnet are connected by a chain, preventing loss or drops.
You can easily adjust its position, making it suitable for jackets, hats, bags, and more.

To capture the squid's skin texture, ultra-fine spiral wire was precisely wrapped around an aluminum base.
The result is a beautifully smooth and lustrous finish.
The squid has ten detailed tentacles that appear ready to move, and accent stones add a touch of refinement.
This piece shows Hiyoshi’s mastery in balancing elegance and playfulness through careful construction.
